3/4” and 18mm sockets; ratchets or impact gun, 100 FT/LB torque wrench
INSTRUCTIONS FOR 1997-01 CHEROKEE WITH SKID SHIELD
- Lower the exhaust hanger bracket(passenger side) and skid plate by removing the 2 nuts and 2 bolts. NOTE: Retain these existing 12mm nuts and bolts as they will be required to reinstall exhaust hanger bracket and skid plate after the installation of hitch assembly is complete.
- Loosely attach hitch assembly to frame as shown with the exception of skid plate location.
- Reinstall exhaust hanger bracket and skid plate as shown being sure to use spacer to compensate for frame bracket thickness.
- Tighten all bolts; refer to torque table on the instruction sheet.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR 1984-1996 CHEROKEE NO SKID SHIELD
- Thread bolt leader onto carriage bolt and insert bolt leader through hole in spacer. Fish bolt leader and assembly through access hole in frame and carefully pull down through existing hole in frame until bolt is into position.
- Remove bolt leader and repeat (step no.1) for the remaining holes.
- Loosely fasten hitch assembly to frame using appropriate hardware.
- Tighten all bolts; refer to torque table on the instruction sheet.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR 1997-01 CHEROKEE NO SKID SHIELD
- Lower the exhaust hanger bracket on the passenger side by removing the two existing 12mm nuts. NOTE: Retain these existing 12mm nuts as they will be required to reinstall exhaust hanger bracket after the installation of hitch assembly is complete.
- Thread bolt leader onto carriage bolt and insert bolt leader through hole in spacer. Fish bolt leader and assembly through access hole in frame and carefully pull down through existing hole in frame until bolt is into position.
- Remove bolt leader and repeat (step no. 1) for the remaining hole.
- Loosely attach hitch assembly to frame as shown with the exception of exhaust hanger bracket location.
- Reinstall exhaust hanger bracket being sure to use spacer to compensate for frame bracket thickness.
- Tighten all bolts; refer to torque table on the instruction sheet.
